August’s Drivers and Trainer of the Month Are Here!

by Miranda Brooks 1. October 2021 12:33

We think all U.S. Xpress drivers are some of the best professional truck drivers out there. Every day they're helping support the supply chain and keeping everyone in the country going.

But we want to recognize a specific few who have been beyond relentless. These drivers were nominated by their managers and chosen as winners by company leadership based on their outstanding safety records, hours of service compliance, and overall good reputation. Each of them will be recognized with a plaque, a $150 gift certificate to the company store, and an entry to become the 2021 Driver/Trainer of the Year.

Now let's get to it! August’s winners are:

Samuel F. – Dedicated Solo Driver of the Month

"Samuel came over to the YRC account and hit the ground running. He is extremely self-motivated and is always looking for new ways to maximize his miles and help fill any gaps that need to be covered. He has become an indispensable member of the team and continues to set new levels of performance for both the customer and U.S. Xpress as a whole." – Tim Smith, Account Supervisor

Donald C. & Richard D. – Dedicated Team Drivers of the Month

“Donald and Richard have been an extremely solid team running for me. They are consistently at the top of the account for mileage and bring a new meaning to the word ‘reliable.’ They have both been with the company for several years now and continue to set the example for new teams rising through the ranks. On top of that, they are highly motivated to continue to raise the bar on what a team is capable of as professional drivers.” – Tim Smith, Account Supervisor

Dani D. – Dedicated Slipseat Driver of the Month

Michael I. – Dedicated Owner Operator of the Month

“Michael is always hungry for miles and is often willing to run loads on the weekends. He is dedicated to his job and always has a positive attitude.” – Greg Kuehn, Transportation Manager

Andre J. – OTR Solo Driver of the Month

"Andre has been part of U.S. Xpress for two years now, and he never lets his tour lane down. We know we can always count on him, and we appreciate everything he does to deliver superior service." – Kelsey Hood, Operations Manager

Milton C. & Pedro M. – OTR Team Drivers of the Month

"Pedro and Milton run on the Expeditors tour lane for us and provide excellent service and communication. They have an excellent safety record. It is always a pleasure to talk to them. They seem never to have a bad day." – Brent Steele, Team Fleet Manager

Hosni L. – OTR Owner Operator of the Month

"Hosni is a valuable and productive member of our team every day. He dedicates himself to service and safety and always keeps up with top-notch communication." – Kelsey Hood, Operations Manager

Scott W. – Trainer of the Month

“I have worked with Scott for many years, and he has always been there to assist in any way he can. He is an excellent, safe, and dedicated driver. He puts forth these traits when training the student drivers assigned to him. We are grateful to have Scott as one of our trainers in our driver family on the Dollar General Zanesville account.” – Brian Jacks, Transportation Manager

Join us in giving a big congratulations to all these drivers for their hard work, dedication, and relentless attitudes as they help keep us rolling.

COVID-19 Team Member Update: Stay vigilant, stay safe.

by Miranda Brooks 30. September 2021 12:12

As the COVID-19 Delta variant continues to spread across the nation, we want to make sure you’re staying safe and healthy on the road.  As of Wednesday, September 22nd, the CDC reported a seven-day average of 121,533 new cases, 9,636 new hospitalizations, and 1,545 deaths.

Just this month, 69 U.S. Xpress team members have tested positive for COVID-19, and we lost another team member to this virus. We mourn their loss and wish the best to those who have tested positive, particularly those hospitalized.

Your safety is our priority, but it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part. We ask that you follow all CDC guidelines, including practicing social distancing when possible, taking breaks in your cab instead of driver lounges or other common areas. Additionally, you are required to follow any guidelines set in place at any customer location.

Per recommendations from the broad healthcare community and other experts (including the CDC, Mayo Clinic, and many more), we remain convicted that the safest and fastest way to protect each other is to get vaccinated. If you are not yet vaccinated, please consider getting the shot(s) as soon as possible for your safety and the safety of those around you. We also know that President Biden’s vaccine mandate announcement last week raises questions for many. Click here for more information on our response to the mandate announcement: https://vimeo.com/602029379/20a0e14765

Stay tuned for more information as we continue assessing the best plan of action to keep everyone safe and healthy.

We’re making our Driverline easier to use.

by Miranda Brooks 28. September 2021 18:19

We know that the Driverline is an important point of contact for drivers, and we’re making it easier to use by upgrading our system. Here’s what you need to know:

When is the upgrade happening? The Driverline system upgrade will start at 10 p.m. EST on Wednesday, 9/29. While this is typically a slower call volume time, if you call in while the upgrade is happening you could experience minor delays.

What’s changing? You will no longer be prompted to enter your Driver ID when selecting option 1 to reach the Fleet Team on the Driverline if your information is already in the system. To make sure this feature works correctly for you, your current phone number needs to be correct in our system. If you’ve changed your phone number or are unsure if we have the correct phone number listed for you, please check with your Operations Team.  If you are calling to reach HR, payroll, etc., you will still need to enter your ID.

What’s staying the same? The number (1.844.879.7737) and the menu options will not change.

We appreciate all you do and hope this upgrade makes it easier to access the info you need through the Driverline.

Truckers Against Trafficking

by Miranda Brooks 26. September 2021 10:10

Victims of human trafficking are often found in locations frequented by truck drivers. These victims need our help, and that’s why U.S. Xpress has partnered with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT). TAT is a nonprofit organization that trains truck drivers to recognize and report instances of human trafficking. By learning how to identify the signs and report incidents of trafficking, you can play a vital role in rescuing victims. Since 2009, professional drivers like you have reported over 2,000 cases to TAT’s national hotline and freed over 1,000 people.

You can help victims of human trafficking with a TAT-certification course that involves a 26-minute video, followed by a 10-minute quiz.

Access the training one of three ways:

On www.USXpressway.com, there’s a direct link with a button titled “Professional Driver Development Site”.

Or, if you’re already logged into U.S. Xpressway, you can find the Learning System listed under MY TOOLS.

Or, you can go to our main website, www.usxpress.com. At the bottom of the main page, you can click “PROFESSIONAL DRIVER DEVELOPMENT” to access the platform.

Once you’re in the Learning System, look for “Truckers Against Trafficking” in your list of assignments, and click on the video.

Access Your ELDs Right from Your Phone.

by Miranda Brooks 24. September 2021 09:59

As you know, during an inspection, you’re responsible for showing your HOS logs and knowing the functions related to a roadside inspection from within your DriverTech unit. But do you know how to access the information on your mobile device? It’s easy.

  • Step 1: Enable airplane mode on your mobile device.
  • Step 2: Open WiFi settings on your mobile device.
  • Step 3: Connect to your personal DriverTech network. It will be “DT” followed by your personal device number.
  • Step 4: Enter the password “drivertech”.
  • Step 5: Select sign-in prompt or navigate to ra.drivertech.com on your web browser. It may take a few moments for your device to connect.

Now you’re directly connected to DriverTech, and your mobile device is acting as your ELD display screen. Go ahead and hand it to the DOT officer so they can complete your inspection. Then just like that – you’re back on the road!
