Our Tunnel Hill Service Center is Being Renovated

On Friday, November 1st, our Tunnel Hill Service Center will begin a 4-6 month renovation. There are many exciting upgrades in store. So what can you expect to see at the Tunnel Hill Service Center once this renovation is complete?

  • Open floor plan throughout the service 
  • An updated driver’s lounge
  • Updated restrooms and showers
  • Enhanced workout facilities 
  • Enlarged company store
  • Expanded pet area (including a new dog wash)

 

 

Also, all OTR Fleet Operations will be located in Tunnel Hill at the conclusion of this renovation.

 

For your convenience, we will have mobile units available at Tunnel Hill to continue to provide you with some of the services that you might need during your stop. There will be mobile units on-site with a driver’s lounge, restrooms, showers, laundry, and the company store during the course of the renovation.

 

We want you to feel comfortable when you visit our Tunnel Hill Service Center, so all of these renovations are being made with your comfort and convenience in mind. “We’re excited about these enhancements that are going to make our drivers’ lives easier and more comfortable during their downtime,” said Director of Driver Services Lynn Quintero.

2020 Benefits Sign Up Starts Next Week

2020 benefits enrollment starts next Monday, November 4. November 4th through the 22nd is the only time of year that you can make changes and confirm existing coverage, so it's important that you call.


You can do so in three easy steps!


1. Be on the lookout for your 2020 Benefits Guide that has been mailed to your home address.
2. If you are adding a spouse or dependent, go ahead and fax your dependent documents to 866-231-9165. Be sure to include a fax cover sheet with your employee ID on it. Dependent documents are marriage certificates for a spouse and birth certificates for children.
3. Give us a call at 866-895-8677 between November 4 and November 22. Operators will be taking calls Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm, EST.

Whether you’ve been to our service centers recently or it’s been a while, there’s a chance you haven’t seen everything available to you. That’s why we’re profiling our service centers, and this month is all about our Springfield, OH, location.

 

As one of the most important parts of our business, we want you to feel comfortable when you’re in our service centers, whether you want to work, relax or play!

 

 

Does your truck need a fuel up or a service? Springfield has you covered with a fuel island and a full service maintenance shop, open 6am – 2am every day.

 

 

 

Could your truck use a good wash? Get your truck shiny and clean at Springfield’s wash bay.

 

When it’s time to unwind, you can catch up on your favorite TV shows in Springfield’s driver’s lounge or play your favorite video games at one of their two gaming stations.

 

  

Get in a workout and some fresh air by practicing your free-throws at Springfield’s outdoor basketball hoop.

 

 

 

Grab a bite at Springfield’s dining area, featuring a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, ice machine, and plenty of tables and chairs.

Make More Money on a FedEx Doubles Team

We’re looking for teams to haul FedEx Doubles in Salt Lake City, UT, Tracy, CA, and Portland, OR. If you’re looking to make more money, have at least 6 months of experience, and have a doubles endorsement, check this out. Benefits and details of this account include: 

 

  • Great pay starting at .68 CPM/split, up to .75 CPM/split
  • Current U.S. Xpress drivers who transfer to this account are eligible for a $12,000 sign-on bonus
  • Can earn up to $105,000 plus bonuses in first year per driver

Always Be Prepared for Extreme Weather

Whether you’re driving in snow, ice, rain, or high winds, there are a few things to remember that will help keep you and others on the road safer. Here a few tips for driving in extreme weather conditions.


1. Professional drivers know to do a pre-trip inspection every time they hit the road, but there are some things that require close attention during severe weather. Make sure you’re lights, mirrors, windows, and brakes are clean and functioning properly, and ensure that your tires are properly inflated and have good tread depth.
2. Make sure to check all weather forecasts along your route before leaving.
3. If you drive slip-seat or you’re in a new truck, make sure you know where your wiper, defrost and light control knobs are before you hit the road.
4. Make sure you have enough time to stop or maneuver by driving the appropriate speed and maintaining proper following distances.
5. If the roads are slick from rain, snow or ice, reduce your speed, and double your following distance. Don’t use cruise control, and keep your lights are on and your windows and mirrors clear.
6. If you’re driving in high winds, be very cautious if you have a light or empty load. It’s always safer to keep your loads balanced and well secured. 
7. When driving through fog, dust, or smoke, keep headlights on low beam, and stay in the right lane. If visibility decreases, get off at the next exit (avoid stopping on roadways).


As always, if road conditions are hazardous (snow, ice, and wind) and you cannot safely drive, park your truck and send a satcom message to your Fleet Manager/Account Supervisor as soon as possible.
